Natasha, CBT therapist specialising in self-esteem, confidence and social anxiety
MEET YOUR THERAPIST

Hi, I'm Natasha.

I'm a CBT therapist specialising in self-esteem, confidence, and the fear of being judged or not being good enough.

I help people who find themselves overthinking, being overly critical of themselves, or holding back because of what others might think. My approach is warm, compassionate and collaborative, helping you understand how past experiences may have shaped the way you see yourself, and build the confidence to show up more authentically in your relationships and everyday life.

HOW I WORK

Understanding yourself, not just your symptoms.

Sometimes the way we see ourselves has been shaped by experiences that happened long before we started questioning our confidence.

I value a collaborative, compassionate approach that combines practical strategies with an understanding of the experiences and beliefs that may sit beneath our difficulties.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) & Trauma-Informed CBT

CBT is the main approach I use in my work. It helps us understand the relationship between our thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and behaviours, and how these can sometimes keep anxiety and low confidence going.

I take a trauma-informed approach to understanding how past experiences can influence current difficulties. Experiences such as criticism, rejection, bullying or difficult relationships can shape our beliefs about ourselves, other people and the world.

Compassion-Focused Principles

When we're struggling with self-esteem, shame or fear of judgement, our inner dialogue can become particularly harsh. Where appropriate, I draw on compassion-focused principles to help people recognise self-critical patterns and develop a more balanced and understanding relationship with themselves.

Acceptance & Values-Informed Principles

Where appropriate, I also draw on principles relating to acceptance, mindfulness and values. These can help us make room for uncomfortable thoughts and feelings while taking steps towards the relationships, experiences and goals that matter to us.

HOW I PUT THIS INTO PRACTICE
Singing in a doo-wop cover band is one of the ways I enjoy putting myself out there and doing something just for the fun of it. Performing can also be a reminder that being seen doesn't require us to be perfect; sometimes, it's about allowing ourselves to participate, enjoy the experience and not get too caught up in how we're coming across.

Being half Filipino and half English has made me curious about identity and belonging, and how different parts of ourselves can come to the foreground in different environments. I'm interested in how the contexts we're in can influence how we express ourselves, what we feel comfortable sharing and how much we feel we need to adapt to fit in.

MY JOURNEY

Why I'm interested in how we see ourselves.

My professional experiences and my own journey with confidence have both shaped how I understand social anxiety, self-esteem and belonging.

THE BEGINNING

Why we feel different in different situations.

I've always been interested in why we can feel so differently about ourselves depending on who we're with or the situations we find ourselves in.

BEYOND THE THERAPY ROOM

A few things that make me, me.

Outside of therapy, I love performing music, discovering good food and learning about people and the different ways we experience the world.

Singing in a doo-wop band

I perform in a three-part harmony doo-wop band covering songs from the '50s and '60s. It's a fun way to spend time with other people and enjoy something completely different from my clinical work.

A massive foodie

I love food and discovering new places to eat. Going for a meal is one of my favourite ways to connect with people.

My mixed cultural background

I'm half Filipino and half English, and I enjoy the different perspectives that come with having a mixed cultural background. It's also influenced my curiosity about identity and belonging.

Curiosity about people

I'm very curious about people and the different ways we learn to see ourselves, relate to others and find our place in the world.
