Modalities
I love CBT because it’s active, positive and forward-thinking. We work collaboratively to understand what’s keeping you stuck, gently challenge patterns that might be holding you back, and develop practical strategies to help you manage difficulties independently. Alongside my CBT training, I also have qualifications in coaching and counselling.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
I run the Authentic Speaking group on Thursdays, which is definitely a highlight of my week, so you might find me there! One of the things I love most about CBT is how empowering it can be. The aim isn’t to have support forever, but to help you build the confidence and skills to manage difficult thoughts and feelings independently. You don’t have to wait until anxiety disappears to live a fulfilling life; I want to help you discover that you can cope with more than you might think.
Coaching & Group Coaching
How do you currently practice the Social Visibility Method in your life?'“I try to practise what I preach by regularly challenging myself to step outside my comfort zone. I recently challenged myself to run a half marathon despite being a very slow runner! I've also been learning to challenge my people-pleasing tendencies and become more comfortable with the possibility that not everyone will be happy with my decisions. These experiences remind me that we don't have to be good at everything, feel completely confident or avoid uncomfortable feelings to do things that matter to us. ”
About me
My route into psychology wasn’t entirely straightforward! I initially studied Politics at university before working in Human Resources at the United Nations in Geneva. Although I enjoyed working with and supporting people, I wanted to do something that felt more directly meaningful. This led me to pursing a Psychology degree, and working with people recovering from brain injuries and in addiction rehabilitation, before retraining as a therapist. I’ve now worked for several years in the NHS as a therapist supporting people experiencing a range of mental health difficulties.
My own experiences of anxiety and perfectionism have played an important role in shaping the therapist I am today. For a long time, I put enormous pressure on myself to get things right, whether that meant aiming for 100% in exams, meticulously preparing scripts for interviews and meetings, or being incredibly hard on myself whenever I made a mistake. I often felt that I had to maintain impossibly high standards, even when this came at the expense of my enjoyment and wellbeing.
Learning that I didn’t have to get everything right, and that I could cope with uncertainty and uncomfortable feelings, was incredibly freeing. It helped me realise how much more enjoyable life can be when we stop letting anxiety dictate our choices. I’m passionate about helping others experience that same freedom, and feel more comfortable being themselves.
Outside of Work
I love travelling and exploring new places. Japan and Costa Rica are next on the bucket list!
I'm a big tennis fan and love following the Grand Slams, although I'm a very amateur player myself! I brave the Wimbledon queue each year and have been lucky enough to attend three of the four Grand Slams. I'm hoping to tick off the French Open next year!
I enjoy keeping active, whether that's weightlifting, running or getting out for a long walk.
One of my favourite ways to spend a weekend is exploring a new part of London, getting my steps in and finding a good bakery for a sweet treat.
I'm a big dog lover and am hoping to welcome a labradoodle into my life soon!
